Today saw construction work for Phase 1 of our Den Development commence. This is great news for our scout group and the other members of the wider community that use the Bush Scout & Community Centre.

This would not have come about without the dedication of the Den Development Team, the Den Management team and all of the Scouters in the group backing the teams up along the way. A huge amount of effort and work has been done by the den development team already to get us this far. All of this was done while scouters were running the section meetings and activities. I would personally like to thank everyone for their work so far.

I also would like to thank all the youth members and their families that supported us in our fundraising efforts last year. We raised close to €6,000 ourselves, approx €4,500 has been donated to us from Lucan Lions Club and Lucan South Parish which we are extremely grateful for and we have some other funds to be donated soon.

While construction work is happening there may be some changes to our schedules and or disruption to our meetings. It is predicted to take only 4 weeks for Phase 1 to be completed. Each section will notify their members separately about any changes that may occur to meetings. There will be no meeting for Cubs and beavers on the 21st March to facilitate a group planning meeting.

While every effort will be made on our part to help this process we would be grateful for some help from parents also. Please park in the church grounds and bring/collect your child at the main entrance to the den. Do not under any circumstances allow your child near the construction site to the right of the building as you enter the car park.

It is hoped that we will get Phase 2 completed later in the year but this is entirely dependant on funds. While our group was very lucky to receive a grant from South Dublin County Council last year, these funds and what we raised last year will only cover two thirds of the bill for phase 1 & 2. We will be exploring every avenue to raise the remaining funds. If any parent has contacts that they feel could help us in our fundraising efforts please get in touch with us.

If any parent has any questions or offers of help please don't hesitate to contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
